The Dublin Legends

Where & when

Half a century ago, The Dubliners first stood on Belgian soil for a series of performances. More than 50 years later, The Dublin Legends, the torchbearers of this legendary Irish folk group, return to Belgium. In their ranks is singer/guitarist Sean Cannon, the man who was part of The Dubliners from 1982 to 2020.

When The Dublin Legends take the stage, you imagine yourself within a few minutes in an Irish pub. The beating heart of Irish towns and villages, where stories of rugged sailors, fiery romances, and unfortunate loves circulate over a pint of Guinness or a good glass of whiskey. No band can set that authentic and infectious atmosphere with as much enthusiasm as the quartet of Seán Cannon, Gerry O’Connor, Shay Kavanagh, and Paul Watchorn.

True folk fans may know the musicians better under the legendary name ‘The Dubliners’. That name disappeared when Dubliners front man John Sheahan retired in 2012, but the legend lives on! Just like the incredibly delicious pub atmosphere that sweeps listeners away with foot-stomping and clapping through rousing songs and melancholic ballads.

The Dublin Legends bring Irish folk as it's meant to be. Pure and raw from the heart. They don't need shiny decors and special effects to make an impression; good Folk carries itself. And the talented quartet proves it time and time again as they raise the roof with their enthusiasm and rhythm. ‘Molly Malone’, ‘Whiskey in the Jar’, ‘Seven Drunken Nights’, ‘The Irish Rover’, and ‘Dirty Old Town’, each one a classic that you just have to sing along with. Ten years after the 50th anniversary of the famous Dubliners, that famous name may well be history, but the band has not lost an iota of its unparalleled style. Folk with a capital F!
