The world’s most popular musical Andrew Lloyd Webber’s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, makes a triumphant appearance at Stadsschouwburg Antwerp from 6 February 2025.
The world's most popular musical, The Phantom of the Opera, in its original English spoken version, is making its spectacular Belgium debut on 6 February 2025 at Stadsschouwburg Antwerp for a limited season. Since its premiere at London's West End in October 1986 The Phantom of the Opera has been seen by more than 160 million people worldwide.
The Phantom of the Opera is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most critically-acclaimed musical, having won over 70 major theatre awards, including 4 Olivers and 7 Tonys. Seen by over 160 million people worldwide in 41 countries, 186 cities and 18 languages, this haunting love story continues to take the world by storm.
Based on the novel by Gaston Leroux, The Phantom of the Opera takes place in nineteenth-century Paris, where a musical genius known only as ‘The Phantom’ lurks deep beneath the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano named Christine Daaé, The Phantom attempts to lure Christine into becoming his protégé. Can Ms.Daaé resist the mystery of the Opera Ghost, or will she be drawn into his world of obsession, darkness and betrayal?

The production showcases an array of 230 meticulously crafted costumes, capturing the elegance and fashion of the 1880s.
